Dignity of Work Initiative – Championship & Student Orientation

The Dignity of Work Initiative of the Freedom & Virtue Institute is a church-based initiative that involves volunteers and employers in assisting people in getting meaningful employment. We utilize the Jobs for Life (JfL) curriculum. Jobs for Life is a global nonprofit organization that engages and equips the local Church to address the impact of joblessness through the dignity of work. 10th Anniversary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast

The 2017 breakfast will be held at Harborside Event Center in downtown Ft. Myers in conjunction with support from the City of Ft. Myers. During the breakfast, four Lee County residents will be recognized for their contributions to building a better community with the “Guardian of the Dream” award - John Tobler (Tobler Construction) & Michele Hylton-Terry (Community Redevelopment Agency) – joint public and private collaboration efforts to restore McCullum Hall, Tamara Hunter – Franklin Park Elementary School and Pastor Matt Keller – Next Level Church.

Dignity of Work – Champion & Student Meeting #1

The Jobs for Life job readiness training course for adults incorporates biblical truths and stories to help men and women understand their dignity and God-given identity and gifts, develop character, and foster a supportive community that will equip them for work and life. This method, combined with soft skills training, has proven to enable unemployed and underemployed men and women to find and keep meaningful employment.

Dinner will be served from 6-6:30 pm in Bryant Hall, classes are held from 6:30 to 9:00 pm in the Sanctuary. CORE CLASS COMPONENTS Identity: In addition to job readiness skills, students will gain a biblical understanding of their identity and value. We are made in God’s image with unique skills and abilities. He loves us, has a purpose and plan for our lives, and wants to be in relationship with us.
